About the Back End Developer Role at Confidential

As a Back End Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining server-side logic, databases, and APIs that power modern software applications. You will work closely with front-end developers, product managers, and DevOps teams to deliver secure and high-performance solutions for a growing engineering team.

This is a full-time remote role, open to candidates based across the MENA region, supporting a confidential software company in building scalable and reliable digital solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs.
  • Build scalable and secure server-side applications.
  • Integrate databases and third-party services.
  • Optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve backend-related issues.
  • Follow best practices for security, data protection, and system architecture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience as a Back End Developer or similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages (e.g., Node.js, Python, Java, PHP, or similar).
  • Experience working with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL).
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and backend architecture patterns.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote, distributed team environment.
