Job Summary

The Commerce Editor will execute a clear content strategy aligned with the brand strategy, writing and editing shoppable and engaging editorial content. This role requires a strong background in the beauty industry and a deep understanding of the affiliate world. The editor will be responsible for editing a high volume of stories, writing as needed, determining content clusters, and reporting on performance metrics. This role reports to the Senior Commerce Director for Allure.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage a roster of freelancers, including pay scales and deadlines, and develop new writer talent.
  • Maintain and optimize Allure’s testing methodologies and ensure best UGC processes and practices.
  • Drive a clear editorial point of view for product and shopping recommendations appealing to the Allure reader.
  • Partner with the commerce team on shoppable newsletters.
  • Apply SEO and GEO best practices to commerce-driven posts and the commerce editorial calendar.
  • Pitch and execute commerce partnerships.
  • Identify commerce opportunities by studying purchasing data, tracking site analytics, performing competitive analysis, and researching consumer trends.
  • Participate in editorial meetings and collaborate with vertical editors to develop commerce opportunities.
  • Coordinate closely with the Commerce and Audience Development teams to share data and best practices.
  • Partner with affiliate link partners to optimize revenue, and build relationships with retailers and brands.

  • Familiarity with building and executing content across site, social, and newsletters strategically and efficiently.

  • Experience managing product sourcing logistics at a digital property.
  • Strong organizational skills, a self-directed work style, and polished communication skills.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected base salary range is $80,000-$94,000. Salary offers are based on skills, training, experience, and education. Successful candidates may also be eligible for discretionary bonus compensation and a generous employee benefits package.
