Position Overview
Reporting to the Manager, Cloud Operations & Infrastructure, the Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting secure cloud services, infrastructure platforms, and operational processes. This includes roadmap development, cloud governance, technical leadership, and troubleshooting across cloud and on-premises environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead secure platform operations and services strategy implementation.
- Develop governance, operational policies, standards, and technical roadmaps.
- Architect and deploy cloud and on-premises solutions.
- Design and deliver new cloud capabilities and features.
- Monitor production systems, investigate issues, and drive continuous improvements.
- Automate operational tasks across cloud and on-prem infrastructure.
- Perform upgrades, repairs, risk identification, and contribute to projects.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and after-hours support.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience with physical and cloud infrastructure, preferably Azure.
- Experience in developing governance, operational policies, standards, and technical roadmaps.
- Proficiency with Agile and DevOps practices.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform and/or ARM templates.
- Knowledge of identity and access management, OS security, virtualization, and storage.
- Experience with Windows technologies including Active Directory, Exchange, SQL, System Center, SharePoint, and PKI.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Azure Monitoring, SolarWinds, or Stackdriver.
- Proficiency in scripting using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Strong documentation and technical writing skills.
- Cloud or infrastructure-related certifications are an asset.
Work Arrangement
This is a Remote Contract position, ideally based in British Columbia, although other locations in Canada will be considered.
