Job Summary
The Peer Support Specialist is a member of the behavioral health/family health services team. Working alongside Behavioral Health Clinicians, Primary Care Providers, Psychiatric Providers, Nurses, Medical Assistants, and Social Workers, the role involves assisting peers with recovery tasks such as setting goals, developing action plans, and resolving issues related to recovery including housing, social connections, and job skills improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize self-disclosure to inspire hope and model positive behaviors.
- Develop recovery action/treatment plans with peers.
- Meet with peers at CCAP sites and in the community.
- Coordinate services using CCAP resources and referrals.
- Act as a liaison between families, legal systems, and community resources.
- Educate at-risk individuals regarding recovery.
- Facilitate recovery oriented group activities and trainings.
- Write routine case management reports and narratives.
- Attend supervision meetings and training sessions.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
Work Schedule & Environment
This is a full time 40-hour per week role with some evening hours. Flexibility is required as work may occur at any CCAP location including schools, client homes, and community venues. The role involves some physical activity and potential exposure to biohazardous materials.
Qualifications
- Rhode Island Certified Peer Recovery Coach.
- Bachelor’s in a related field (preferred).
- Personal recovery experience.
- Experience in community-based settings.
- Valid driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance.
- Up-to-date immunizations/vaccinations.
