Medical Assistant
CommUnityCare Health Centers is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. This role involves performing a range of clinical and administrative duties to support patient care and intake processes. - Accurately interview patients, record medical histories, and measure vital signs.
- Verify patient information, including demographics, insurance, and medications, entering data into EHR/EPM systems.
- Greet and assist patients professionally, answer telephone inquiries, and provide necessary information.
- Collect and perform CLIA-waived lab tests, documenting and reporting results.
- Collect, prepare, and document various biological specimens for testing.
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers with procedures.
- Set up exam rooms and prepare instruments for sterilization.
- Complete pre-visit planning to optimize clinical visits.
- Administer medications per CommUnityCare formulary and perform medical acts as prescribed.
- Dismiss patients, completing all necessary documentation and orders.
- Participate in new employee orientation and attend mandatory meetings.
- Work collaboratively with team members, patients, and providers to ensure effective patient care coordination.
- Coordinate patient care, including communicating test results, assisting with pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, and scheduling.
- Follow up on diagnostic tests to ensure completion and proper documentation in EHR.
- Perform surveillance programs, completing medical records with all relevant documentation.
- Maintain a clean and functional environment, cleaning and disinfecting equipment and rooms as per guidelines.
- Serve as a scribe, accurately documenting patient visits and procedures as performed by the provider, including medical history, exams, procedures, patient education, and diagnoses.
- Prepare referral letters as directed by the provider.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- Medical Assistant Diploma and/or National Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited program or equivalent military healthcare experience.
- Completion of a medical assistant externship.
- Current Health Care Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
