About the Role

The Veterinary Technician at Community Veterinary Partners plays a critical role in supporting veterinarians by providing high-quality medical care to animals in a clinical setting. This position involves performing a variety of technical tasks such as collecting samples, administering medications, and assisting during examinations and surgeries to ensure the health and welfare of animal patients. The Veterinary Technician also educates pet owners on proper animal care and behavior, contributing to improved animal welfare in the community. Working closely with veterinarians and other staff, the technician helps maintain a safe, clean, and efficient animal hospital environment. Ultimately, this role is essential in delivering compassionate and effective veterinary services that promote the well-being of animals and support the overall mission of the veterinary practice.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in animal handling and basic veterinary procedures.
  • Strong understanding of animal anatomy, physiology, and common diseases.
  • Ability to safely draw blood and collect other diagnostic samples from animals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in an animal hospital or veterinary clinic environment.
  • Knowledge of animal behavior and welfare standards to improve patient care.
  • Familiarity with veterinary medical software and electronic health records.
  • Additional certifications such as Fear Free or specialized training in exotic animal care.
  • Strong communication skills for effective client education and team collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during medical examinations, surgeries, and treatments by preparing animals and equipment.
  • Collect and process biological samples such as blood, urine, and tissue for laboratory analysis.
  • Administer prescribed medications and vaccines to animals under veterinary supervision.
  • Monitor and record vital signs and behavior of animals to detect changes in health status.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of animal care areas, surgical instruments, and hospital facilities.
  • Provide education and guidance to pet owners regarding animal care, nutrition, and behavior management.
  • Manage inventory of medical supplies and ensure proper storage of pharmaceuticals.
  • Support animal welfare initiatives by recognizing signs of distress or abuse and reporting concerns appropriately.
