The Role

As a member of the Retail Technology (Everyday Banking Domain), you will contribute to the technology products and services we deliver, from architecture, technical design and coding to deployment to operation. Your work will support the E2E Service Journey crew, which is responsible for the Disputes Journey, the Deceased Estates, and Authorities Journeys. We are dedicated to providing the best service in the moments that matter.

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer - Next.js with a strong front-end engineering background to lead technical excellence and delivery maturity for the Authorities squad, supporting the NetBank Next platform. This is a senior technical leadership role, ideal for someone who combines deep web UI expertise (Next.js, React, Node.js) with hands-on delivery, architecture leadership, and a passion for mentoring in a regulated, customer-centric environment.

What We're Looking For

• Possesses full-cycle engineering experience: ideation, technical design, build, testing (unit, integration, system), release, and ongoing maintenance.
• Can architect, design, and develop robust solutions - lead by example in coding, code reviews, and deployment.
• Owns decisions on UI architecture (routing, rendering, state management), component design, and design system adoption for NetBank Next.
• Can set and evolve squad technical direction, ensuring alignment with NetBank Next frameworks (Next.js, Node.js) and modern engineering standards.
• Actively embraces and integrates AI-driven solutions (including LLMs and agentic AI approaches) to enhance our engineering workflows and product capabilities.
• Provides technical governance and guidance throughout the complete solution delivery lifecycle.
• Works independently and drives a culture where quality, excellence and openness are championed.
• Is passionate about learning new tools and technologies and is constantly thinking outside the box.

Tech Skills

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:

• Languages & Frameworks: Next.js, React, TypeScript/JavaScript, Node.js, C#, .NET Core, GraphQL, REST APIs, microservices, containerization.
• Frontend Tooling: Vite/webpack, Babel/tsc, ESLint/Prettier, Storybook, Playwright/Cypress, Jest/RTL, Lighthouse/WebPageTest, bundle analyzers.
• Design System & Accessibility: Design tokens, ARIA patterns, semantic HTML, accessibility testing (axe), WCAG 2.2 AA.
• Cloud & DevOps: AWS, Azure, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps), feature flags, canary/blue-green.
• Observability: Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, Frontend RUM (OpenTelemetry web, custom beacons), error tracking (Sentry or equivalent).
• Security: CSP, Subresource Integrity, OAuth/OIDC flows, session management, secure storage, threat modeling.
• Data & Events: Relational (Postgres, Oracle), NoSQL (MongoDB), data lakes, event-driven architectures (Kafka, MQ).
• Quality & Testing: Establish frontend testing strategy (unit, integration, contract, visual regression, e2e) and promote CI for web (build-time checks, bundle analysis, Lighthouse in pipelines).
