About the Program Director Federal Health Role
As a Program Director Federal Health at Commence, you will operate within a critical federal healthcare environment, engaging with key stakeholders in prominent organizations such as the Defense Health Agency and Veterans Affairs. Your core mission will be to champion and drive the adoption of advanced technologies to modernize healthcare delivery. This effort aligns directly with broader federal initiatives aimed at implementing sophisticated digital health tools, particularly those leveraging automation through artificial intelligence and machine learning.
This is a high-impact program leadership position that offers a significant opportunity to shape program strategy, directly contribute to improving healthcare outcomes, and expand the overall scope and influence of the program. The role is fully remote, providing flexibility, with occasional travel required for essential meetings or events.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and comprehensive oversight for all projects managed under the program, ensuring high-quality technical solutions are delivered on time and within budget.
- Implement robust delivery frameworks to ensure operational excellence, diligent risk management, and strict contract compliance across the entire program’s portfolio.
- Effectively manage diverse, cross-functional teams, including software engineers, data analysts, healthcare Subject Matter Experts, and project managers.
- Ensure that the team is appropriately resourced and maintains a sharp focus on achieving program objectives within a dynamic, fast-paced operational environment.
- Coordinate seamlessly with technology teams to integrate advanced technologies such as workflow automation, clinical tools, and AI-driven solutions to streamline processes and significantly enhance program outcomes.
- Serve as the primary liaison to the client, maintaining exceptional communication with senior stakeholders, proactively managing expectations, and building enduring trust through consistent value delivery and responsiveness to client needs.
- Champion a pervasive culture of continuous improvement and digital transformation throughout the program and organization.
- Actively identify and pursue strategic opportunities to expand the program’s scope and value, cultivating strong relationships with clients and partners to position the program for securing additional task orders and extensions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a management or technical field.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in delivery management or program management roles.
- Direct, proven experience leading projects or programs specifically for federal healthcare clients (e.g., Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, or similar agencies).
- Demonstrated experience managing large, cross-functional teams and successfully delivering complex, multi-million-dollar technology-led implementations.
- A track record of growing and expanding programs through excellent service delivery and adept relationship-building.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with proficiency in engaging effectively with senior stakeholders.
