Position Summary
The Division of General Obstetrics & Gynecology at Columbia University is seeking a Nurse Practitioner II. Reporting to the Division Administrator and Chief of the Division, you will work closely with physicians to lead patient medical management, develop thoughtful differential diagnoses, and tailor individualized, evidence-based treatment plans. You will also integrate preventive medicine and patient education into all aspects of clinical care.
Responsibilities
Patient Care Management and Documentation:
- Obtain and document patient history and physical exam findings.
- Write prescriptions according to state and federal laws.
- Assess patient responses and document treatments.
- Provide health teaching and follow up as per protocols.
Direct Patient Care:
- Work with physicians to provide comprehensive, high-quality patient care.
- Develop individual patient panels and manage lab results follow-up.
- Utilize EMR systems efficiently.
Quality Assurance & Patient Safety:
- Review patient records for quality of care.
- Administer care according to safety and infection control standards.
- Ensure adherence to practice protocols and legal parameters.
Patient Rights, Education & Research Studies:
- Demonstrate awareness of patient rights and referral mechanisms.
- Provide patient education and act as a clinical preceptor.
- Participate in quality improvement studies and approved research protocols.
Coordination/Collaboration and Other Duties:
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to achieve patient health goals.
- Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and other duties as assigned.
Minimum & Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications include a Master of Science in Nursing, current NYS RN and NP Licensure, National Certification in the specialty area, and a minimum of three years of nursing experience. Preferred qualifications include 2-5 years of related experience, experience in OBGYN settings, and computer proficiency.
