Job Summary

Colorado State University Global (CSU Global) is seeking a Data Analyst & Software Engineer to play an important role in preparing analyses and reporting to support the university's mission. This role involves coordinating and responding to external requests, including IPEDS, SURDS, college guidebooks (US News & World Report and others), and other government and external constituency reporting. The position will support the development of automated data visualizations, dashboards, automated reports, and ad-hoc reports for leadership and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a positive attitude and the ability to plan and adapt to change. Programming skills are required for the Databricks environment, including Python for backend development and JavaScript for frontend development and integrations into internal sites.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the timely completion of external reporting including IPEDS, SURDS, rankings, and other external requests.
  • Coordinate, track and oversee internal and external requests for quantitative and qualitative data analysis and reporting needs.
  • Ensure institutional data is validated and quality-checked prior to publication or release.
  • Create, design, and maintain dashboards of institutional data in Tableau.
  • Actively participate and support University improvement initiatives.
  • Perform introductory statistical modeling techniques (regression, significance testing, clustering, etc.).
  • Work in Databricks, and collaborate with the team on predictive analytics.
  • Work with IT in software development projects to support the integration platform that requires Java Script.
  • Work with IT in software development projects to support the portals (Student, Staff, and Faculty).
  • Document business needs and requirements and translate them for Technology using User Stories and Features.
  • Works with programmers, developers, and other information services staff to ensure requirements are appropriately reflected in reports and programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Working knowledge of database concepts.
  • 2 to 5 years experience preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to touch, handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, reach with hands and arms. Ability to spend long durations of the workday in front of a computer monitor. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
