The Role of a Data Scientist, Consumer

Data Science is a critical component of Coinbase's product development and decision-making processes. As a Data Scientist, Consumer, you will partner with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to influence product roadmaps and gain a deeper understanding of user behavior. Your expertise in experimentation, analytics, and advanced modeling will generate insights that directly contribute to the company's bottom line.

You will specifically focus on improving the customer experience across various Coinbase consumer products, including spot and advanced trading, yield, Coinbase One (CB1), international expansion, and new launches like prediction markets and equities trading. This involves defining and instrumenting key metrics, building measurement and causal frameworks, and translating insights into product strategy and tangible improvements.

What You'll Be Doing

• Perform in-depth analyses on products to answer open-ended questions and provide strategic recommendations.
• Design and guide experiments/analyses to accurately measure impact and drive continuous product improvements.
• Develop and maintain essential metrics and reports, actively enhancing data infrastructure for more efficient and insightful analysis.

What We Look For In You

• At least a BA/BS degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Math, Statistics, Physics, or Computer Science) with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience driving significant impact for a digital product within an iterative development cycle.
• A strong understanding of statistical concepts and practical experience applying them (e.g., A/B testing, causal inference, machine learning).
• Proficiency in data analyses using SQL.
• Competency in programming and modeling using Python.
• Demonstration of Coinbase's core cultural values: clear communication, positive energy, continuous learning, and efficient execution.
