About the Role
The Senior Software Engineer Backend at Coinbase Developer Platform is responsible for building and refining onchain developer tools. You will define and evolve the x402 payment protocol and build key products such as the SDK, Payment MCP, and onchain payment protocols, working closely with open-source contributors.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the x402 internet-native payment protocol standard
- Develop and maintain x402 SDK, Payment MCP, and related products
- Collaborate on open-source initiatives via GitHub discussions and PR reviews
- Work with frontend teams and ensure scalable, secure backend development
What We Look For
The ideal candidate has 6+ years of software development experience with a focus on backend work. Proficiency in Golang, Typescript, and Python is essential, along with experience in scalable, secure systems. Knowledge of Web3 technologies, stablecoins, smart contracts, and wallets is a plus. Experience with AI protocols and impactful open-source projects is also valued.
