About the Role

The Senior Software Engineer, Backend - Stablecoin Payments at Coinbase Developer Platform (CDP) is pivotal in building the developer tools to bring the world onchain. This role is part of Coinbase’s Stablecoin Payments team, developing core infrastructure for stablecoin-based payments across products like Retail, Exchange, Prime, and Custody.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain backend systems for pay-ins, payouts, deposits, and withdrawals.
  • Serve as the Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) from design to production.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, design, infrastructure, compliance) for robust solutions.
  • Integrate stablecoin functionality with internal and external APIs.
  • Identify and resolve performance, scalability, and reliability challenges.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a high-performing culture.
  • Keep up with the evolving crypto ecosystem to drive innovation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of software engineering experience.
  • Expertise in backend technologies (Go, Java, etc.) and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP).
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and system design.
  • Experience in fintech, payments, or crypto is highly valued.
  • A product-minded approach with strong ownership and collaboration skills.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with stablecoins, DeFi protocols, or on-chain payments.
  • Familiarity with smart contract platforms (Ethereum, Solana, Base) and open-source contributions.
  • Experience in startup or hyper-growth environments.
