At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom worldwide. As a Senior Software Engineer Backend Stablecoin Payments, you will be part of a high-caliber team building the emerging onchain platform that shapes the future global financial system.

Role & Responsibilities

Join Coinbase’s Stablecoin Payments team to develop core infrastructure for stablecoin-based payments, enabling fast, secure, and scalable money movement. You will design, build, and maintain backend systems that power deposits, withdrawals, and third-party payments across multiple Coinbase products.

  • Design and maintain backend systems for stablecoin transactions.
  • Drive key projects as the Directly Responsible Individual (DRI).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and compliance teams.
  • Integrate stablecoin functionality across various core products.
  • Mentor junior engineers and address performance challenges.

What We Look For

We require a minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, with proven experience in building large-scale backend systems. You should be proficient in backend technologies (like Go, Java) and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP) and have a deep understanding of distributed systems and API design. Experience in fintech, payments, or crypto is ideal.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with stablecoins, DeFi protocols, or on-chain payments.
  • Familiarity with smart contract platforms and developer tools.
  • Contributions to open-source crypto projects.
  • Experience in startup or hyper-growth environments.
