CMCC Foundation - Centro Euro Mediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici is seeking a dedicated expert in data science, visualization, and communication to tackle climate change challenges. You will apply advanced machine learning and AI-driven modeling to complex climate-related datasets, transforming them into compelling visual narratives that inform policymakers, researchers, and the public.

About The ICC Program

The ICC Program integrates planetary biogeochemical and industrial carbon cycle research to build a net-zero carbon economy. It offers quantitative and narrative analyses of socio-economic systems, reinforcing the need for clear, impactful data communication.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze research data to support project objectives.
  • Develop high-impact visualizations including dashboards, infographics, and interactive tools.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to transform analytical results into engaging narratives.
  • Maintain and improve data visualization and analysis tools ensuring quality and reproducibility.
  • Engage internal and external stakeholders for alignment in science communication.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in machine learning, AI modeling, and data analysis.
  • Experience with visualization tools such as Python (Plotly, Bokeh), R (ggplot2, Shiny), Tableau, and D3.js.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to simplify complex data.
  • Passion for climate research and societal impact.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Collaborative mindset with interdisciplinary work experience.

Duration, Compensation & Benefits

This full time opportunity is based in the CMCC Milano office with a contract duration of at least 12 months. Compensation will reflect qualifications and experience, along with a welfare package, flexible working time, and support during the immigration process if required.
