About the Role
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our team. Our managers embrace a player/coach role, blending technical leadership, execution, and people management. The primary responsibilities of Engineering Managers are to build strong engineering teams and help them deliver results. We empower team members to take ownership of problems, supporting them with mentorship, guidance, and critical business context.
As an Engineering Manager, You Will
- Be accountable for the team's impact, guiding them to achieve high levels of technical productivity and reliability.
- Foster a healthy, results-oriented, and collaborative culture crucial for strong teams.
- Represent the team in engineering organization-wide planning, initiatives, and processes.
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Designers to develop our technical roadmap and approach to solving problems that enhance patient and doctor experiences.
- Set the direction for your team collaboratively, establishing objectives aligned with Clover's company goals and roadmap.
- Participate actively in sourcing, screening, hiring, growing, and retaining talent.
Success in the Role Looks Like
First 90 Days:
- Understanding workflows, processes, and overall business problems.
- Contributing to the codebase and reviewing direct reports' pull requests.
- Building relationships with various stakeholders across the company.
First 6 Months:
- Developing strong rapport with your new direct reports.
- Contributing to the architecture and design of the system as a whole.
Beyond 6 Months:
- Growing and mentoring your direct reports through continual collaboration and feedback.
- Contributing to the growth of the organization's culture.
- Being able to step in as a technical lead when situations demand it.
- Taking ownership of specific systems within the platform.
We'd Love to Hear From You If
- You are a software engineer with personnel management or team lead experience, specifically leading 5 or more engineers.
- You have led development projects and created opportunities for others to grow into leadership roles.
- You have successfully collaborated with various non-engineering stakeholders on projects.
- You thrive in fast-paced environments, making quick decisions under constraints to meet the demands of a rapidly growing company.
- You possess deep experience in system design and general-purpose programming languages such as Python, Ruby, Go, Java, or Typescript.
- You have a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects for web applications and services.
- You are capable of working across different technical systems and concerns alongside other stakeholders.
