Summary

We are seeking a Senior Software Developer, Databases to join our Systems Engineering, Production team. This role is for a candidate with deep MySQL expertise, passionate about building robust, scalable database systems, and eager to address innovative challenges.

What Your Team Does

  • Build, secure, and maintain critical infrastructure powering Clio’s core applications.
  • Provide data observability and transparency across environments.
  • Collaborate with product development to improve workflows and automate processes.

What You'll Work On

  • Prepare and evolve Clio’s MySQL infrastructure for scale and reliability.
  • Define roadmaps aligning with business goals and application requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve performance issues in MySQL and other data stores.
  • Guide development teams on optimal database usage and automation practices.
  • Collaborate with the SRE team to develop MySQL expertise.

What You Should Have

  • Strong backend development experience with proven MySQL expertise.
  • Experience in diagnosing and resolving performance issues.
  • A portfolio demonstrating both successes and lessons learned.
  • An interest in leveraging AI to improve development practices.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with migration tools (pt-online-schema-change, gh-ost).
  • Knowledge in managing hosts with Puppet.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Ruby, or GoLang.
  • Familiarity with AWS tools including CloudFormation, Terraform, and Ansible.
  • Scripting skills with BASH and experience with ProxySQL or Percona toolkit.
