Location & Hours of Operations
Climate Power is a remote-first organization, though based in Washington, DC. This Senior Political Research Associate position can be located anywhere in the United States. Candidates must be able to work Monday - Friday 9 am - 6 pm EST, with additional availability for weekends and evenings as required. Occasional travel, typically 3-4 times per year, is also necessary.

Hiring Timeline and Process

About the Senior Political Research Associate Role
Climate Power is seeking a Senior Political Research Associate to join the Research team. This role involves monitoring and tracking the federal government and key state elected officials, elevating the benefits of climate action and clean energy investments, and defending against efforts to dismantle climate progress. The Senior Political Research Associate will support the team’s daily operations and contribute to various research initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and produce original research on the White House, federal agencies, Congress, and key states.
- Support the Research Department's monitoring and general research needs for federal and state elections and candidates.
- Contribute to long-term research projects focused on climate inaction costs, disaster response cuts, and the home insurance crisis.
- Identify opposition research opportunities and rapid response moments for Climate Power.
- Draft reports, fact sheets, and other research materials on diverse topics.
- Generate actionable political research for communications materials, media pitches, and earned media tactics.
- Fulfill rapid response and political event monitoring duties.
- Assist with fact-gathering for reports and other written research products.
Essential Qualifications
- 3+ years of relevant political research experience, including campaign or issue advocacy.
- Experience with opposition research, investigative research, or electoral campaigns preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse groups.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in political research documents.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities under minimal supervision.
- Strong news judgment and familiarity with the political media landscape.
- Proficiency with research tools like LexisNexis and campaign finance filings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Workspace.
