About The Role: Art Director, Performance

We’re hiring a Performance Marketing Art Director to elevate how Cleo shows up across paid channels. This role is about more than execution — it’s about ideas. You’ll partner with a copywriter as a dedicated creative team, concepting bold, scroll-stopping campaigns that drive performance and push the boundaries of what growth creative can be.

You’ll help elevate the visual direction of performance marketing, shaping standout concepts and bringing them to life across static and video formats. Working closely with Creative Strategists and Growth Creative Leads, you’ll turn insight into original, high-impact ideas that balance brand ambition with commercial results.

This is a role for someone who thrives at the intersection of craft and concept — who can think big, execute brilliantly, and continually raise the bar for performance creative at Cleo.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with a copywriter to form a high-performing creative team, concepting and ideating breakthrough performance campaigns.
  • Push the conceptual standard of growth creative — developing bold, distinctive ideas that make Cleo impossible to ignore in-feed.
  • Work from initial concept, storyboarding through to final execution.
  • Collaborate with Creative Strategist and Growth Creative Leads to translate audience insights, cultural moments, and performance data into powerful creative platforms.
  • Champion exceptional craft across motion and static output, ensuring performance work feels as considered and ambitious as brand campaigns.
  • Use metrics, testing results, and user insight to refine ideas — balancing experimentation with strong creative conviction.
  • Explore how AI and emerging tools can unlock faster ideation, smarter testing, and more ambitious creative thinking.
  • Partner with marketers, growth teams, and product stakeholders to ensure ideas align with campaign goals, product positioning, and business objectives.

What We're Looking For

We’re looking for a creative thinker with strong experience in performance or growth environments — someone who can generate big ideas and bring them to life at speed.

  • Your portfolio demonstrates strong conceptual thinking as well as exceptional craft — with standout examples of campaigns and performance-led creative.
  • You’ve worked as part of a creative team (ideally with a copywriter) and understand how art direction and copy combine to create powerful, cohesive ideas.
  • You have experience in or alongside growth/performance marketing teams and understand how creative, media, and testing work together.
  • You’re comfortable using data and insights to sharpen ideas — without losing boldness or originality.
  • Strong skills in digital design tools (e.g. Figma), with a sharp eye for layout, typography, visual hierarchy, and storytelling in digital environments.
  • You can zoom out to think in platforms, systems, and campaign worlds — not just individual assets.
  • You set and protect high creative standards, even in fast-paced, test-and-learn environments.
  • You care deeply about craft, detail, and pushing work from “good” to “great.”

Compensation Range

United States: $101,829 - $136,996 gross annually. Compensation for other locations will be discussed during the interview process. Final compensation is determined by qualifications, skills, and experience.
