Key Responsibilities of a Material Handler

  • Prioritize Health and Safety by complying with all safe work practices and policies.
  • Efficiently unload containerized waste from route trucks.
  • Reload route trucks with necessary supplies and equipment for subsequent runs.
  • Ensure all waste and containers meet shipping standards and are organized for transport to recycle or distribution centers.
  • Stock the warehouse with newly received materials.
  • Prepare waste loads meticulously for shipment.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the branch, including painting, trash pickup, sweeping, cleaning, and straightening.
  • Empty and fill drums of solvent mineral spirits as required.
  • Perform minor repairs on parts washers located at the warehouse.
  • Observe third-party bulk liquid transfers to ensure proper procedures.
  • Assist with accurate inventory counts at the warehouse.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal compliance regulations and rules.
  • Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT and other regulatory requirements.
  • Observe all corporate operating guidelines and environmental health and safety procedures.
  • Undertake other assigned duties to support warehouse operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow specific instructions accurately.
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision at times.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform physical functions as required by the job.
  • Successful completion of a background check, drug test, and physical examination.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous forklift experience is highly valued.
  • Relevant prior experience in a warehouse or material handling role.
  • Familiarity with waste labels, manifests, and load sheets.
