Civil Engineer - Roadway Designer
Civil Design, Inc. (CDI) is a multi-disciplined civil engineering firm offering civil site, structural, land surveying, and GIS services since 1996. The team of over 150 professionals works from six locations across Missouri, Illinois, and Kentucky serving diverse service lines including Infrastructure + Analytics, Site, Structures, Survey, Transportation, and Water Resources.
Role Overview
The Civil Engineer – Roadway Designer will support CDI's mission of Building Stronger Communities by designing municipal roadways, Interstate highways, intersections, interchanges, ADA compliant sidewalks, and multi-use facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and plan production for municipal roadways and highways
- Create roadway design elements including horizontal/vertical alignments, cross sections, and intersection layouts
- Develop drainage design, pedestrian facilities, utility conflict resolutions and relocations
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Project Engineers for effective project solutions
- Work on a wide variety of project types while ensuring quality standards
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong technical skills in transportation engineering and roadway design
- Experience with governmental clients in Kentucky, Missouri, and/or Illinois
- Proficiency in CADD software including MicroStation/Open Roads Designer preferred, AutoCAD/Civil 3D acceptable
- Good communication skills and team collaboration
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from a four-year college or university
- EI/PE credentials strongly encouraged
- 1 – 8 years of experience
- Position may be based at any CDI location; requires up to 10% travel
