Engineer IV - Public Works

The City of Virginia Beach Public Works Street Maintenance seeks a qualified candidate for the Engineer IV position. This role provides managerial oversight of the Public Works Operations, Highways, and Project Management bureaus.

The candidate will support the division manager with various administrative and engineering tasks. The duties include:

  • Development and management of the operational budget, manuals, and training documents.
  • Project and construction management for major municipal roadway, stormwater, and coastal projects.
  • Conducting constructability assessments, managing construction changes, cost estimating, and project scope development.
  • Manpower forecasting and constructability reviews of project documents.
  • Resolving construction issues and conflicts.
  • Managing construction, inspection services, and municipal asset damage assessment contracts.
