Job Overview
The Research Analyst 1 role at City of Toronto supports the analysis of energy data from City-owned buildings, including energy and carbon performance modelling, baseline model development, and forecasting. The candidate will integrate various data sources to develop a robust energy management information system.
Major Responsibilities
- Conduct research using multiple sources including government and community agencies.
- Develop and administer stakeholder engagement materials.
- Collect, analyze and interpret data, and provide reporting to Council.
- Coordinate database reporting, contract execution, and invoicing activities.
- Develop computer applications for data storage and retrieval.
- Maintain the research library and catalog reference materials.
- Support internal divisions, Councillors, committees and provide problem-solving insights.
Key Qualifications
Applicants must have a post-secondary degree or diploma in Environmental Studies, Applied Sciences, Building Sciences or a related discipline, significant experience in data analytics and statistical interpretation, and energy modelling expertise related to measurement and verification.
You Must Also Have
- Knowledge of sustainable energy management in commercial buildings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for report creation.
- Interpersonal skills to work with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to manage workflow independently or in teams under deadlines.
- Proficiency in various software including energy management systems and Microsoft Office.
Asset
Experience with energy performance data, renewable energy systems data and energy management applications like RetScreen or EnergyCAP is considered an asset.
