Position Overview
The City of Seattle Legislative Department offers an outstanding opportunity for a work study eligible student to support the Human Resource Division. As a Human Resources Work Study Intern, you will gain valuable hands‐on experience in various HR functions including personnel file management, recruitment assistance, process refinement, and website upgrades. You will work closely with the Human Resource Manager, HR Specialist, and Seattle HR staff.

It also offers exposure to a full-service human resources office with a small, tight-knit team.
Job Responsibilities
- Research and update the status of position description questionnaire files.
- Develop an electronic log and prepare reports for HR Manager.
- Refine the personnel file management process ensuring compliance.
- Analyze and summarize research findings into reports for review.
- Assist in upgrading the HR department’s internal website.
- Support recruitment activities including tracking and correspondence.
- Perform routine clerical assignments as needed.
Qualifications
Applicants must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in Washington State with majors in business administration, human resources management, communications or a comparable field. Eligibility for Washington State Work Study for the 2025 – 2026 academic year is required. Undergraduates must maintain a GPA of 2.0 and graduates a GPA of 3.0. Experience in an office setting with proficiency in MS Office Suite is essential. A genuine interest in human resources and good time-management skills are desired.
Additional Information
The internship begins in Fall 2025 and is contingent on department budget and the student’s work study award. The schedule is flexible, up to 19 hours per week, and will require a minimum of four days in the office at Seattle City Hall, 600 Fourth Ave., 3rd Floor, Seattle, WA.
Pay Details
Undergraduate students will receive $21.78 per hour and graduate students $26.71 per hour.
