Job Description
The Associate Systems Engineer is a junior level position focused on maintaining, testing, and analyzing City platform services. The role involves providing operational support for IT systems, especially critical City platforms such as Microsoft email and collaboration applications. This position works with on-premises systems as well as cloud technologies, primarily using Windows, Active Directory, Azure AD, Office365, and PowerShell.
Essential Functions
- Handle tickets from the team queue and assigned tasks.
- Provide excellent customer service to clients and end-users.
- Participate actively in team meetings and support sessions.
- Maintain relationships with IT staff citywide.
- Support on-call rotations during major incidents.
- Assist project teams and maintain automation scripts and ITSM tools.
- Engage in ongoing training and LMS courses.
Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience managing complex systems in an enterprise environment.
- Strong understanding of Windows, Active Directory, and Microsoft technologies.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot, de-escalate, and resolve technical issues.
- Commitment to building collaborative relationships.
Additional/Desirable Skills & Abilities
- Experience in scripting, especially with PowerShell.
- Knowledge of PowerBi, DataVerse, Windows Server, and Linux OS.
- Familiarity with virtual environments and cloud technologies.
- Exposure to monitoring systems and automation software.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent job-related experience in IT is required. A minimum of three years’ experience working within IT, particularly in systems administration, scripting, and Microsoft Office365, is preferred. The successful candidate must pass an FBI background check and related trainings, and must be a resident of Philadelphia within six months of hire.
