IT Business Analyst at City of Ottawa

The City of Ottawa / Ville d’Ottawa is seeking an IT Business Analyst to join its Finance and Corporate Services Department, within the Information Technology Services branch. This full-time temporary position plays a crucial role in creating business value by providing innovative and strategic technology solutions for the City's operations.

Job Summary

As an IT Business Analyst, you will be responsible for staying current with client operations and contexts, including the organization's culture, legislation, operational priorities, and pressures. You will serve as a key liaison between clients and technical specialists, facilitating the identification, development, and implementation of business requirements for client business applications, systems, and processes.

Education And Experience

  • Completion of 3-year college diploma or university degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business applications and systems analysis.

Knowledge

Candidates should possess knowledge in the following areas:

  • Business analysis practices and techniques, including methods, practices, and tools used in requirements definition, and business process review, design, and re-design.
  • Technical acumen and aptitude.
  • The mandates, responsibilities, operations, and business contexts of client groups.
  • Project management methodologies and tools.
  • Current and emerging best practices and technical solutions used in business analysis, process design, and the clients' business line(s).
  • Applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Knowledge of, and experience with, the City's IT infrastructure and business applications.

  • High level of tact, diplomacy, and professionalism.
