Overview
The City of Ottawa is seeking a Coop Student to support the Traffic Engineering team. This position is for students enrolled in a recognized co-op program in Civil, Transportation or Computer studies and in their 3rd or 4th year of studies. The role offers hands-on experience with traffic control signal operations and analysis.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct field studies such as Queuing, Delay, and Travel Time Runs.
- Analyze traffic signal timing and phasing using Synchro and other tools.
- Prepare reports summarizing data with recommendations.
- Assist in creating signal timing databases from the central traffic control computer.
- Support capacity analysis for traffic pattern changes and new road networks.

Education & Experience
Enrollment in a recognized co-operative engineering program in Civil, Transportation or Computer studies is required. Prior exposure to traffic engineering concepts is an asset.
Additional Information
This is a non-union, non-MPE co-op position from January 2026 to April 2026 with a work week of 35 hours. Candidates must have a valid Ontario G class driver’s license and provide proof of enrolment.
