About the NYC Campaign Finance Board
The NYC Campaign Finance Board is a nonpartisan, independent city agency dedicated to empowering New Yorkers in local elections. Our mission is to foster a more open, transparent, and equitable democracy by reducing participation barriers. We facilitate voter engagement through NYC Votes, publish the citywide Voter Guide, and support small contributions via our public matching funds program. We also ensure transparency in campaign finance through robust disclosure and oversight.
The Auditing & Accounting Unit
Our Auditing & Accounting Unit comprises dedicated auditing professionals committed to ensuring compliance with the Campaign Finance Act and Board Rules for candidates running for City office. This role directly impacts the integrity of New York City’s matching funds program and ensures candidates meet disclosure and oversight requirements, fostering an informed electorate.
Auditor Position Overview
The Auditing & Accounting Unit is seeking Auditors to join our team. This role involves analyzing financial records and disclosure statements for desk and field audits. Overtime may be required to meet workload demands. Auditors will perform audits according to Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS) and internal procedures. Key responsibilities include managing an assigned audit caseload, coordinating with other CFB units, preparing written reports, and communicating professionally with campaigns to provide guidance on audit and compliance matters. You may also represent the unit on special projects.

Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with at least 12-semester credits in accounting, auditing, business/public administration, computer science, economics, finance, statistics, graphic design, personnel/human resources, user experience design, or a related area, AND one year of full-time experience in a relevant field; OR
- A four-year high school diploma or equivalent AND five years of relevant experience; OR
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Previous experience performing audits in accordance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards is strongly preferred.
