Department: Airport

Employment Status: Permanent - Full Time - Non-Exempt

Schedule: Workdays and shifts vary. Example shifts include: 5:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., 1:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.

Compensation: Grade 7; Salary Range starting at $21.96/hour

Position Summary

The FBO Operations Supervisor is responsible for sustaining, maintaining, and ensuring safe, secure, and efficient air/land side operations at the Morgantown Municipal Airport. This role involves oversight of staff, fixed base operator services, and providing top-notch customer service to pilots, passengers, tenants, and the general public. The role also includes responding to Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) situations.

Essential Duties

  • Perform all duties of lower-ranking positions including aircraft fueling.
  • Supervise staff: scheduling, work order creation, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Create and maintain maintenance schedules for FBO vehicles, equipment, and fuel farm.
  • Maintain required paperwork such as inspections, maintenance schedules, fuel, and field condition reports.
  • Manage parts and tools inventory and order supplies as per City procedures.
  • Ensure cleanliness and safe operations of all FBO related buildings.
  • Work independently and collaboratively while providing excellent customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, City, and Airport policies and regulations.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Airport Director or designee.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

This role involves exposure to demanding and potentially hazardous conditions including inclement weather, heavy equipment, and airport traffic hazards. The employee must be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally more than 100 pounds, as well as perform duties that require fine hand-eye coordination.

Use of Technology & Equipment

Daily use of computers, telephones, radios, and various office equipment is required alongside the use of light and heavy equipment for routine maintenance and operational tasks.

Contact & Supervision

This position involves frequent contact with airline personnel, airport tenants, vendors, contractors, and government officials. It reports directly to the Airport Director and includes supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

Education: High school degree or equivalent (GED).

Certification/License: Valid Driver’s License; ARFF certification and CPR & First Aid certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment.

Experience: At least two years of supervisory/leadership experience; strong customer service skills; experience with operation of hand and power tools and equipment.

Other: Must pass a 10-year TSA Criminal History background check, possess effective communication skills, and be computer literate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Management, Engineering, or a related field; additional relevant experience in airport operations and customer service; previous experience with aircraft refueling and building management is a plus; fire fighter training and current CPR/first aid training are also desirable.
