Assists one or more Assistant City Attorneys with the details of all aspects of legal work, carrying out legal duties such as researching legal issues; preparation of documents pertaining to the handling of cases; collection of documentary evidence and information; securing copies of regulations, statutes and case reports; and the screening and processing of correspondence. This position reports to and performance is evaluated by an Assistant City Attorney.

Job Description

Paralegal, Dallas City Attorney’s Office – General Counsel Division
The Dallas City Attorney’s Office is seeking an energetic, self-motivated paralegal with three to five years of experience to fill a full-time position in the General Counsel Division. The successful candidate will assist the General Counsel Division with all aspects of legal work and take the lead on managing the City Attorney’s Office service request process to ensure that all requests are assigned and handled in a timely manner.
A successful candidate must be proficient in Westlaw Next and Lexis, Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and Acrobat Professional and have experience using case management software. Candidates must be proficient in drafting legal memoranda, correspondence, and other written documents; and be knowledgeable of legal terminology, principles, and procedures. The successful candidate must also be able to maintain calendars, schedule appointments, meetings, hearings, and conferences for attorneys. Other duties may be assigned.
Candidates must have a paralegal certificate or a bachelor’s degree in a related field. The successful candidate must possess excellent personal interaction skills with the ability to work cooperatively with other employees, clients, and members of the public; and be a self-starter, organized, and able to work independently, where necessary, in order to complete a project.
Salary is commensurate with experience. The city's comprehensive benefits package comes with the position.
This position is exempt from the provisions applicable to civil service, pursuant to Chapter XVI, Section 9 of the Dallas City Charter.
