About the Role

Citi’s Senior Associate, Corporate Advisory - Financial Institutions is responsible for providing strategic advisory services for mergers, acquisitions, and other types of financial transactions. This role also assists clients in raising funds and other capital management activities, specifically covering the Financial Institutions (“FI”) sector and will be based in Sydney.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the execution of Citi’s Capital Markets and Advisory business activities associated with FI clients.
  • Leverage past investment banking or related experience to enhance M&A execution and capital raising capabilities.
  • Contribute to building Citi’s franchise.
  • Manage and mentor analysts by providing detailed guidance and feedback, and quality checking their work.
  • Drive workstreams as the key intermediary between seniors and analysts.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets. This includes driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct, and business practices, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in finance, preferably investment banking.
  • Demonstrated experience creating complex financial analyses.
  • Proven problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to work effectively within diverse teams.
  • Financial Institutions coverage experience is preferred, but candidates with other sector experience who have a strong interest in FI will also be considered.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience is required.
