Systematic Crypto Trader

Role Overview

We are seeking a Systematic Crypto Trader to join Citadel Securities' fast-growing global Digital Assets team. This role focuses on operating and enhancing quantitative trading strategies across centralized cryptocurrency exchanges, leveraging state-of-the-art trading technology and robust execution and risk management platforms.

This position is at the crossroads of trading, analytics, and technology. You will primarily focus on the disciplined operation and optimization of live systematic strategies, managing execution and capital efficiency, and directly contributing to performance outcomes. Collaboration with quantitative researchers and developers will be crucial to refine signals, strengthen robustness, and improve strategy performance as the crypto market structure evolves.

The team is globally distributed, ensuring continuous 24/7 market coverage coordinated across time zones without requiring overnight shifts. Mobility opportunities across global offices are also available.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage live systematic trading strategies across centralized exchanges.
• Optimize execution quality, slippage, funding exposure, and capital allocation.
• Conduct performance attribution and structured post-trade analysis.
• Apply quantitative methods to enhance risk-adjusted returns and robustness.
• Partner with quantitative researchers to refine signals and strategy parameters.
• Collaborate with developers to improve trading infrastructure and automation.
• Analyze market microstructure, liquidity fragmentation, and cross-venue dynamics.
• Identify and resolve trading, connectivity, and operational issues proactively.
• Contribute to disciplined intra-day risk management and reporting.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience trading cryptocurrencies in a professional or highly active capacity.
• Experience operating systematic or semi-systematic trading strategies.
• Strong quantitative reasoning and comfort with statistical concepts.
• Deep familiarity with centralized cryptocurrency exchanges (CeFi).
• Understanding of crypto derivatives markets (perpetuals, futures, options).
• Advanced working knowledge of Python for data analysis or scripting (required); strong proficiency is a significant advantage.
• Working basic knowledge of Linux.
• Willingness and ability to continue developing technical skills.
• High standards for risk management and operational discipline.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with DeFi venues or on-chain analytics is beneficial but not required.
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (STEM) or equivalent experience preferred.
