Your Impact as a Solutions Engineer

Cisco is seeking a Solutions Engineer (SE) with a strong background in Enterprise Networking, Data Center, Collaboration, Security, Automation, and Cloud. This customer-focused technical sales professional is responsible for providing essential technical information and guidance to customers, delivering meaningful outcomes derived from Cisco’s comprehensive product and services portfolio. The Solutions Engineer will partner closely with Account Managers in a pre-sales technical function, showcasing Cisco solutions, delivering customer presentations, performing technical demonstrations, creating Bills of Material (BoMs), and orchestrating proof-of-concept activities. You will consult, influence, and design solutions that enable customers to achieve their desired business outcomes. Beyond strong technical aptitude and the ability to learn quickly and stay current, the ideal candidate will possess interpersonal, presentation, and troubleshooting skills that inspire passion and confidence.

In addition to the responsibilities above, the Solutions Engineer will:

  • Serve as a technology solution consultant to both the customer and the Cisco account team.
  • Leverage a wide array of Cisco technology, services, and support specialists.
  • Collaborate closely with the Account Manager on strategic account planning activities.
  • Educate customers on Cisco's unique differentiation, thereby creating demand.
  • Establish a strong brand preference for Cisco solutions.
  • Align Cisco’s product and services capabilities with customers' key business drivers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of industry-related experience.
  • Cisco product experience or relevant experience with key competitor offerings in technology areas of emphasis.
  • Solid knowledge of Cisco's Solutions and networking fundamentals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Located in New York City or the NY Metro area with the ability to be onsite as needed.
  • CCNP, CCDP, VCP, or similar vendor certification.
  • Demonstrated customer intimacy skills.
  • Pre-sales experience.
  • Typically requires a BS/BA (EE/CS) or equivalent relevant experience.
