Role: Senior DBA Data Engineer

In this role, you will design, implement, and manage data infrastructure across cloud environments (PaaS and IaaS). You are responsible for ensuring performance, integrity, security, and availability of databases and data pipelines. You will collaborate with software engineers, analysts, and platform teams to support data-driven decision-making in an enterprise environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and maintain secure and scalable database environments using Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, query efficiency, and storage management.
  • Manage backup, restore, high availability (HA), and disaster recovery (DR) strategies.
  • Design and build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines with tools like Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric Dataflows, or Databricks.
  • Manage Azure data solutions including Azure SQL, Synapse Analytics, Cosmos DB, Microsoft Fabric, and Blob Storage.
  • Develop and use IaaC scripts with Terraform for provisioning and managing data services.
  • Implement automation for monitoring, patching, and deployment across cloud environments.
  • Enforce data security, encryption, and access control policies.
  • Mentor junior DBAs and data engineers, promoting best practices in data architecture and engineering.

Competencies & Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in a DBA or data engineering role with enterprise-scale systems.
  • Advanced expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL, with familiarity in PostgreSQL and Cosmos DB.
  • Strong skills in ETL/ELT design, implementation, and performance tuning.
  • Proficiency in Azure data services and infrastructure-as-code using Terraform.
  • Experience with scripting and automation using T-SQL, PowerShell, and Python.
  • Excellent communication skills and relevant certifications are a plus.
