Job Description
CIMA+'s Buildings team is renowned for its expertise in designing high-quality buildings. Our commitment is to deliver cost-effective engineering solutions across municipal, industrial, and transit projects. As a Senior Electrical Technologist - Buildings, you will design and implement electrical systems, producing detailed documentation and collaborating with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
Job Responsibilities
- Design power distribution systems including single line diagrams and emergency power setups.
- Develop lighting layouts, fire alarm, communications, and security systems.
- Create design documentation such as calculations, specifications, and as-built drawings.
- Conduct site investigations and field work during construction phases.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Review construction progress for compliance and participate in testing.
- Ensure designs adhere to codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Prepare technical proposals, schedules, and cost estimates.
Qualifications
A minimum of 10 years of electrical design experience for building systems is required, along with a post-secondary diploma in Electrical Design Technology. You must demonstrate a solid understanding of power distribution, lighting design, controls, fire alarm, emergency systems, communications cabling, and security controls. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit and knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code are essential. Experience with capital region clients (e.g., BGIS) is a strong asset.
