About the Role: Senior Data Engineer

As a Senior Data Engineer at Ciklum, you will become a vital part of a cross-functional development team, engineering the experiences of tomorrow. Ciklum is actively developing the Intela platform, an innovative automation solution designed to enhance and unify the process of providing Tax and Financial Services. This globally-operating, complex system is built to streamline the collection, processing, and delivery of financial services, with client employees and external users actively leveraging the platform daily.

You will contribute to a significant program with a large team, continuously adding new features that automate business flows and redefine industries through impactful technology.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy robust Power BI solutions, delivering advanced data analytics.
• Create insightful dashboards and reports that provide key business insights.
• Design and implement efficient data models.
• Optimize reports and dashboards for superior performance by enhancing query speed and ensuring effective data model design.
• Contribute to design, code, configurations, and manage data ingestion processes.
• Implement both close to real-time and batch processing, as well as ETL across various data storages.
• Be responsible for performance tuning complex SQL and DAX queries.
• Identify gaps and actively improve the platform’s quality, robustness, maintainability, and speed.
• Cross-train other team members on evolving technologies while continuously learning new skills.
• Contribute to Unit activities and community building, participating in conferences, and promoting best practices.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience in developing BI solutions, specifically with Power BI.
• Proficiency in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service, including report/dashboard creation, data transformations, and DAX formulas.
• Strong expertise in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for complex calculations.
• Experience with Power Query for effective data transformations and ETL processes.
• Solid understanding of data modeling principles and best practices.
• 3+ years of coding experience in SQL (Azure SQL DB or MSSQL preferred), coupled with strong CS fundamentals including data structure and algorithm design.
• 2+ years contributing to production deployments of large backend data processing and analysis systems.
• Demonstrated experience in data integration and ETL processes.
• Proficiency with Azure Data Services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics).
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development lifecycle.
• Knowledge of Data Warehousing design, implementation, and optimization.
• Knowledge of Data Quality testing, automation, and results visualization.
• Familiarity with the development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• A consistent track record of delivering exceptionally high-quality software on large, complex, cross-functional projects.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly and independently.
