Role Overview
Join Blue Planet, a division of Ciena, as a QA Automation Engineer to contribute to software automation solutions that shape innovative digital experiences for communities, customers, and partners in the AI era.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate concepts and high-level requirements into comprehensive test strategies.
- Build, extend, and maintain automated test suites for end-to-end, system, and performance testing.
- Develop automated validations for REST-based interfaces.
- Plan, configure, and optimize lab or simulation test environments.
- Create test plans, analyze results, and report actionable insights.
- Investigate issues, collaborate with engineering teams, and drive quality improvements.
- Track automation progress and recommend tools and techniques to elevate testing effectiveness.
Essential Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in software test automation.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript.
- Expertise with Jasmine, Cucumber, and Webdriver.io.
- Experience with REST API automation using tools like Postman or Newman.
- Knowledge of performance or load-testing tools such as JMeter.
- Experience with containerized environments including Docker or Kubernetes.
- Proficiency in configuring and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or GitLab.
- Familiar with Git-based version control systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Knowledge of database technologies such as PostgreSQL or Neo4j.
- Familiarity with test management tools like TestRail.
- Experience working in Agile Scrum teams and understanding DevOps practices.
