Freelance Video Editor at Churlish Media
Churlish Media is a story-performance studio seeking skilled and creative Freelance Video Editors to join our growing team. We produce cinematic content, direct-response ads, and authority-positioning video for service-based businesses. If you are a storyteller who excels at video editing and can create compelling content that captivates audiences, we encourage you to apply.
What You'll Do:
- Edit short-form content (Reels, Shorts, TikToks) from raw footage and transcripts.
- Cut long-form video content including brand stories, testimonials, event recaps, and podcast episodes.
- Create direct-response ad creative for Meta, YouTube, and CTV.
- Adhere to detailed editor briefs, focusing on pacing, music, graphics, and tone.
- Perform color correction and basic grading using provided LUTs and reference frames.
- Create on-brand motion graphics and lower thirds.
- Export final videos adhering to platform-specific technical requirements.
- Communicate effectively during revision rounds, providing clear and timely updates.
Who You Are:
- Proficient in video editing software such as Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro.
- Strong understanding of pacing and timing in video editing.
- Ability to follow creative briefs precisely and contribute innovative ideas when prompted.
- Prior experience editing for brands or businesses is essential.
- Skilled in editing both talking-head testimonials and story-driven narratives.
- Excellent professional communication skills, including responsiveness and honesty about timelines.
- Ability to receive and implement feedback constructively.
- Bonus points for familiarity with After Effects, Photoshop, or CapCut for social content.
How It Works:
This is a 1099 contractor position with consistent monthly volume or freelance per-project assignments. You will be assigned to specific client accounts with recurring deliverables or take on project-by-project assignments. Payment is structured on a per-project, bundled rate, or monthly retainer basis, depending on the scope of work.
Compensation:
Rates are determined by scope, complexity, and your experience. We offer:
- Per-piece rates for short-form edits.
- Per-project rates for long-form edits (5-15 min).
- Bundled rates for ad creative packages per campaign.
- Flat monthly fees for ongoing contractor roles based on deliverable volume.
We ensure timely payments, Net 15 from invoice submission.
