NICU Registered Nurse - Seasonal Commit

Children's Health is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) on the Dallas Campus. This is a 16-week seasonal commitment designed to address surges in patient volume. Available shifts are 7 PM to 7 AM, with a requirement of 3 shifts per week. A completion payout is provided at the end of the assignment.

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse, you will independently perform direct patient care using the nursing process. You will collaborate with healthcare professionals to create comprehensive care plans tailored to patient and family needs. Your role involves developing and implementing care plans, ensuring patient safety and comfort, and providing education to patients, families, and the care team.

Key Responsibilities

• Prescribe, delegate, and coordinate patient care with a focus on safety, effectiveness, and patient rights.
• Utilize critical thinking and clinical judgment to develop appropriate patient care plans.
• Oversee the care delivered by the patient care team and coordinate the plan of care.
• Provide education and facilitate learning for patients, families, and the care team, respecting diversity.
• Collaborate with physicians, families, and other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Advocate for the patient, representing their concerns and resolving ethical and clinical issues.
• Accurately document all patient encounters in EPIC, ensuring patient health information (PHI) is protected.
• Adhere to all infection prevention initiatives.
• Deliver competent and skilled care based on identified needs, emphasizing teamwork and customer relations.
• Continuously assess patient condition and implement treatment changes in collaboration with the health care team.
• Manage environmental and system resources for patients and families across healthcare systems.

Qualifications

• Experience: 2-3 years of NICU experience required.
• Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Licenses & Certifications: Current RN license in Texas, Basic Life Support (BLS) required. PALS/NRP/ACLS may be department-specific.
