Job Description

Software Engineer - Enterprise AI

Join Enterprise AI at Chevron to shape the future of intelligent decision-making and AI transformation for the company. As a software engineer in this organization, you will design and build applications and services that integrate advanced AI capabilities—including agentic AI systems, machine learning models, and generative AI workflows—into scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions.

This role is ideal for engineers passionate about modern software architectures, AI-driven applications, and solving complex business challenges through robust engineering practices. You will develop production-ready software, architect solutions with a holistic AI foundation, and create reusable components and frameworks that accelerate Chevron’s AI ambitions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect AI-Enabled Solutions: Design and implement end-to-end software solutions that integrate AI/ML models and services to improve decision-making, workflow automation, and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and Deploy Applications: Build, test, and operationalize cloud-native applications using Microsoft Azure (App Services, Functions, AKS) and Databricks, while maintaining flexibility to leverage other AI services as business needs evolve. Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and future-proofed.
  • Enable Reusable Software Assets: Create modular, reusable libraries, APIs, and templates that support multiple AI applications and accelerate delivery across the enterprise.
  • Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work as part of AI delivery teams, including data scientists, AI engineers, and applied scientists to integrate AI capabilities into production systems.
  • Cloud-Native Engineering & DevOps: Implement Chevron standards and best practices for CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and automated testing using Azure DevOps, Git, and containerization tools.
  • Quality, Security & Observability: Apply secure coding practices, automated testing, and monitoring to ensure reliability and compliance.
  • Innovation and Continuous Learning: Stay ahead of emerging trends in agentic AI, generative AI, and modern software engineering, applying cutting-edge techniques to Chevron’s most critical business challenges.
