AI Engineer

The Data Foundation and Modernization Department is at the forefront of accelerating AI and data capabilities. This team is responsible for modernizing data foundations with scalable frameworks that reduce costs and enhance access to trusted data. As an AI Engineer on this team, you will collaborate with AI and Machine Learning Engineers across the company to deliver accelerators that empower teams to build enterprise-scale AI and machine learning capabilities. Your role will involve setting standards and defining the future of AI at Chevron.Experience
- Experience with agentic AI frameworks and platforms.
- Experience implementing machine learning frameworks and libraries.
- Development experience with Python.
- Experience developing cloud-first solutions using Microsoft Azure Services.
- Experience building machine learning pipelines in Microsoft Azure Machine Learning service and/or Azure Databricks.
Skills
- Proficient in applying common design patterns and communicating design ideas effectively.
- Disciplined, methodical, minimalist approach to designing and constructing layered software components for integration into larger frameworks or applications.
- Proficient in orchestrating large-scale data jobs, leveraging big data tooling and modern container orchestration infrastructure for distributed training and massive parallel model executions on cloud infrastructure.
- Experience designing and implementing custom APIs.
- Experience implementing and incorporating solutions on unstructured data using cognitive services and/or computer vision as part of AI solutions and workflows.
- Knowledge of enterprise SaaS complexities including security/access control, scalability, high availability, concurrency, online diagnostics, deployment, upgrade/migration, internationalization, and production support.
- Knowledge of data engineering and transformation tools and patterns such as Databricks, Spark, Azure Data Factory.
- Mature software engineering skills, including source control versioning, requirement specification, architecture and design review, testing methodologies, and CI/CD.
- Ability to engage business and technical experts at all organizational levels to identify opportunities for applying machine learning and analytics to improve workflows and deliver insights.
- Proven ability to take a leadership role in cross-team projects and work with product managers to clarify and refine requirements.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships across functional and geographic areas to plan, facilitate, architect, and develop scalable AI solutions for Chevron’s key business units and functions.
- Clear, concise, and understandable communication skills, both oral and written.
