This Trade Compliance Specialist EMEAI position is available for hire as a remote role within the EMEA region, specifically in Netherlands, Poland, Romania or the United Kingdom.

We are seeking an energetic, curious, and agile Trade Compliance Specialist EMEAI to join our growing Global Legal and Compliance Team. In this role, you will provide expert advice on trade compliance to a diverse range of stakeholders, ensuring adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies. While your primary focus will be supporting Chemelex’s business in the EMEAI region, you will also occasionally support Trade Compliance operations in Mexico and North America.

Reporting to the Trade Compliance Manager, you will serve as a trusted advisor, delivering customer-focused solutions and tackling a wide variety of compliance challenges. This position offers the opportunity to deepen your expertise in global trade regulations, broaden your knowledge of tariff classification and origin determination, and play a key role in strengthening our global compliance program.

What you will experience in this position:

  • You will perform a variety of duties necessary to support Chemelex’s compliance with import/export regulations and operations thereby ensuring material and equipment get to projects/customers/manufacturing facilities on schedule.
  • Monitoring, analyzing and interpreting evolving trade compliance regulations in the EMEA and APAC regions including Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN), Harmonized Tariff Schedules (HTS), EU customs and export control regulations.
  • Determine classifications and origin determinations in the EMEA and APAC regions.
  • You can expect to interact with internal and external partners, as well as directly with internal clients, stockholders, and vendors on a variety of import/export compliance related activities to minimize associated risk to Chemelex while supporting business growth goals.
  • Liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and other third-party logistics providers to ensure timely and accurate customs clearance of shipments.
  • Handle and review import and export documentation to ensure that all required documents are present for recordkeeping compliance.
  • Maintain trade compliance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current rules and regulations.
  • Assist in the developing, maintaining and implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all country specific import/export laws, customs rules, and trade agreements.
  • Contribute to the continual improvement and implementation of the Chemelex Global Trade Compliance Program/Systems.
  • Conduct audits and assessments to identify potential compliance issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct trainings on Trade Compliance matters with various stakeholders across Chemelex.
  • Identifying and implementing strategies to mitigate risks associated with trade transactions.
  • Support Restricted and Sanctioned Party screening.

You have:

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, International Trade or related field/equivalent qualification (preferred but not required).
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of Trade Compliance background.
  • Deep understanding of global trade regulations and tariff classification procedures.
  • Experience working with both import/export operations within EMEA (must), APAC (ideal) and North America (optional), including handling import and export documentation and operations.
  • Proficiency in SAP (ideal).
  • Experience of European and APAC trade regulations, including custom laws, export controls, and sanctions.
  • Ability to review bills of material for origin determination.
  • Ability to interpret and apply trade compliance regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey compliance requirements to diverse audiences.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional environment with stakeholders (e.g. Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, IT, Logistics, and Legal).
  • English language fluency (essential), Spanish fluency (ideal).
