Identity and access management (IAM) technologies and business processes enable the creation, maintenance, and use of digital identity — ensuring that the right people gain access to the right materials and records at the right time. The IAM program serves the needs of Schwab by implementing IAM best practices via technologies and methods that improve convenience and ease of access for workforce members while safeguarding records and other key data. The IAM Access Risk and Controls (ARC) team is focused on the validation and continuous operating effectiveness of centralized and distributed IAM processes, including establishing and leveraging data assurance processes for continuous monitoring, process improvement, and risk mitigation for Schwab.
What You’ll Do
The Senior Manager is responsible for designing and overseeing strategic security control and monitoring programs on behalf of our cybersecurity access controls organization. In addition, this person will establish partnerships with multi-organizational teams to solve complex problems within cybersecurity. They are responsible for driving risk mitigation and coaching individuals on technical matters.
- Oversee the expansion of access control monitoring programs.
- Leads the development and implementation of security control strategies, especially in the areas of centralized authentication and authorization, privileged access management, and segregation of duties.
- Build partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring support and alignment for project outcomes.
- Provides guidance, direction, and instruction in the business area to less-experienced team members and colleagues, fostering their development and growth.
- Educates the business on cybersecurity and how security enables business objectives.
- Responsible for ensuring the resolution of technical issues with processes that execute security controls, defenses, and countermeasures for an assigned area.
- Consult with engineering teams regarding risks related to emerging technologies and processes (e.g. Cloud, AuthN/AuthZ).

Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of Cybersecurity and/or Identity & Access Management experience.
- Applies advanced expertise in security controls and management activities for the designated business area to develop effective practices to implement, monitor, and administer security controls and records to drive significant business impact.
- Provides leadership and guidance in the designated business area on selecting security control approaches and management practices to ensure a secure IT environment aligned with business requirements.
- Proven expertise with implementing access controls across applications, databases, operating systems, and other technology platforms.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to execute process improvements and solutions.
- Strong attention to detail and proven project/program management skills.
- Proven success in working collaboratively, improving productivity, and designing and coordinating the implementation of ideas.
- Ability to develop and propose potential solutions and plans for next steps, exhibiting confidence in anticipating obstacles and the consequences of decisions to drive projects forward.
- Excellent teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to partner with cross-functional teams across the firm.
- Proven work ethic with a high level of integrity to build trust with our team and internal partners.
- Ability to work independently, exercising good judgment under minimal supervision, maintaining effectiveness and efficiencies in their day-to-day workload.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- BA/BS Degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience with executive-level, risk-based prioritization and presentations.
- Expertise with control frameworks (e.g. NIST 800-53).
- Expertise with Privileged Access Management strategies.
- Expertise with authentication patterns and authorization models.
- Familiarity with the Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence.
