We are seeking a Senior Product Manager (Data Platforms), to join the Data Platform Product Management team and guide the growth and adoption of Schwab data platforms. Our mandate is leading the planning, growth, and usage of data-intensive platforms and products, powered with integrated data and applied insights, fueling business objectives.
As a Senior Product Manager (Data Platforms), you’ll lead the strategy, planning, and delivery of enterprise data platforms. You will work across business, analytics, and engineering teams to deeply understand user needs that drive platform vision, establish roadmaps, prioritize development, and drive adoption. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role ideal for a product leader who thrives in ambiguity, balances strategy with execution, and is passionate about establishing best-in-class product management practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Owning the platform vision and roadmap: Define and own the vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap (with clear success metrics) for one or more enterprise-scale data platforms. Ensure the roadmap aligns with business priorities and delivers measurable value.
- Structured intake & planning: Deeply understand user needs, lead structured intake and requirements gathering for platform. Establish prioritization frameworks and facilitate quarterly planning (e.g., Program Increment planning) to align platform development with the highest-impact business and analytics needs.
- Translating needs into features: Translate business and analytics requirements into actionable platform features. Develop user stories and acceptance criteria that clearly connect business intent to engineering execution.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Partner closely with data engineering, solution architecture, data product, and governance teams to design and deliver scalable, secure, and well-governed data platforms. Maintain tight alignment with enterprise architecture standards and data governance policies. Define and activate engagement models that streamline collaboration across key stakeholders.
- User-centric design and adoption: Lead with a user-first mindset by engaging directly with platform users to understand their needs, pain points, and workflows. Translate insights into intuitive platform capabilities and drive adoption through targeted onboarding, training, and continuous feedback loops that maximize usability and business value. Able to design processes and document workflows that streamline user engagement and onboarding practices.
- Platform health & improvement: Monitor platform health and performance (e.g., reliability, data quality, usage metrics) and lead continuous improvement efforts. Lead initiatives to optimize platform performance by designing user-centered processes and documentation that improve efficiency, resilience, and overall platform experience.
- Subject matter expertise & guidance: Serve as a subject matter expert for your data platforms and related data domains. Advise business and analytics teams on how to leverage platform capabilities (and associated data products) to advance their analytical goals. Act as a trusted consultant to help teams solve problems and innovate using the data platform.
- Product management excellence: Establish and evolve consistent product management practices across our data platform teams. This includes setting up governance and intake processes, prioritization criteria, stakeholder engagement routines, and value measurement techniques. Lead by example in applying these practices, and mentor others in the organization on effective platform product management.
