Role Overview
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will drive innovation by designing and executing ChargePoint’s products. This role focuses on manufacturability, cost effectiveness, and design for quality on both current production and new product initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Interface directly with Asia suppliers for mass production execution
- Identify design opportunities for quality, cost, assembly, and manufacturing
- Develop and monitor supplier production tooling
- Conduct root cause analysis and failure analysis on existing products
Requirements
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Fluency in Mandarin and technical English communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- A minimum of 10 years of industry experience
- Expertise in CAD, with at least 5 years of experience using UG NX
- Strong knowledge of injection molding, CNC machining, sheet metal, aluminum die casting, extrusion, cosmetic part finishing and mass production processes
- A proactive, self-starting attitude with multi-tasking capabilities
- Ability to review and optimize 2D drawings including tolerance and GD&T understanding
- Willingness to travel in Asia for in-person supplier meetings
Preferred Experience
- Material selection for functional and regulatory requirements
- Design experience with ruggedized outdoor electro-mechanical products
- Expertise in cooling system and thermal solution design
Location
This position is based in Shanghai, China.
