About the Opportunity

We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Business Development Manager to join our national Clients & Markets team, working with the firm to grow our business, win new work, and strengthen existing relationships and client experience.

Reporting to our Clients & Markets Director and sitting alongside a high-performing BD & Marcomms team, you’ll work closely with partners and senior lawyers to create and deliver practice, sector and key client strategies. You’ll play a central role in driving business planning, leading pitch activity, developing new opportunities, and embedding exceptional client experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the C&M Director and wider Clients & Markets team to deliver on strategic objectives, annual plans and projects.
  • Leading BD activities including project management of public sector pursuits, proposals and enabling high- profile government pitches.
  • Developing new client and cross-selling opportunities and progressing through the BD lifecycle.
  • Working with the C&M Director on the key account programme and taking the lead to grow for designated accounts.
  • Reporting and analysis for the firm against market data, new initiatives and input into Board Reports.
  • Leading annual legal directory and award submissions for your portfolio.
  • Supporting Partners and senior staff with BD training, BD planning and coaching.

What You'll Bring

  • Relevant qualifications, with a minimum of 5 years of client-related experience.
  • Proven capability in business development, ideally in a professional services environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project managing proposals and pitches, including strategic responses to RFPs and drafting compelling, differentiated submissions.
  • Experience in influencing senior decision-makers as well as coaching and mentoring.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, and compelling writing skills.
  • Proven organizational, attention to detail, and analytical / numerical skills.
  • Solid MS Office skills, CRM and DM system experience an advantage.
