Junior Security Analyst

Position Description

The Junior Security Analyst at CGI will monitor and triage security events using playbooks, SIEM tools and case management systems. You will respond to alerts, identify false positives, and escalate incidents for deeper analysis and resolution.

You will collaborate with senior analysts and subject matter experts to resolve incidents, enhance detection capabilities and contribute to the creation and continuous improvement of security runbooks and operational procedures. You will support monthly reporting and contribute to threat and trend analysis while staying current with emerging threats.

You will gain hands-on experience with a range of security technologies including Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, Defender, CrowdStrike, Red Hat, AWS, Azure security services, and SOAR platforms.

Your Duties and Responsibilities

• Monitor and triage security events.
• Respond to alerts and identify false positives.
• Escalate incidents and collaborate with senior analysts.
• Contribute to runbooks and operational procedures.
• Support monthly reporting and threat analysis.

Required Qualifications

A strong interest in cybersecurity and foundational knowledge or formal studies in cybersecurity, IT or related disciplines is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving abilities, and calm composure in a fast-paced team environment are essential. Australian Citizenship and eligibility for a government security clearance is required.
