About the Role

As an AI Gameplay Designer, you will play a crucial role in designing, scripting, and implementing engaging gameplay systems for AAA action titles. Your focus will be on core gameplay mechanics, sophisticated enemy behaviors, dynamic interactions, and compelling combat encounters.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with the Lead Designer to implement gameplay systems, ensuring they meet high-quality standards and product goals.
• Partner with designers, artists, and engineers to conceptualize, document, and integrate advanced AI gameplay behaviors and enemy abilities.
• Gain expertise in and maintain existing AI gameplay and associated systems.
• Actively contribute to the development team through idea generation and feature implementation.
• Participate in frequent playtesting of levels, game modes, and systems, gathering and integrating feedback from Quality Assurance.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Scripter or Technical Designer.
• Proficiency in scripting or programming languages such as C++, LUA, or Python.
• Experience with visual scripting languages like Blueprint.
• Proven experience as a Scripter or Technical Designer on a shipped title.
• Familiarity with game AI behavior systems (e.g., behavior trees, action planners, FSMs, EQS).
• Experience utilizing game editor tools (e.g., UnrealEd, CryEngine).
• Ability to analyze, understand, implement, and enhance core gameplay mechanics.
• Strong self-management skills to meet hard deadlines in a fast-paced, adaptive environment.

Extra Credit

• Experience with Unreal Engine 5.
• Experience as a Scripter or Technical Designer for the entire development cycle of a AAA game.
• Player character or 3C (direct control) design experience.
• Extensive experience playing shooter and action games (e.g., Call of Duty, Halo, Warframe, Battlefield).
• Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field.
