Role Summary
You will be responsible for growing our Customs and Logistics services by combining commercial drive with deep knowledge of customs requirements. You will identify new market opportunities, build long-term relationships, and contribute to improving standard customs processes within the SDS EU organization by sharing insights and analyses derived from market trends. You will also contribute to the development and implementation of new tools, processes, and business capabilities in the Customs domain, and provide specialist knowledge and advice to the local Customs community.
Key Responsibilities
Metrics
- Identify target customer segments for customs brokerage services, including importers and exporters across industries.
- Build insights on tailored services that align with their regulatory and operational needs.
Partnerships
- Develop and execute commercial strategies to grow market share.
- Build strategic alliances to enhance service offerings.
- Establish internal and external networks to ensure successful customer implementation in the Customs business.
Market Development
- Research customs regulations and rulings, determining the regulatory or interpretive basis for classifications.
- Build insights on market potential and revenue opportunities.
- Identify potential obstacles and guide the organization through strategic planning and risk management.
Continuous Improvement
- Support behavioral change to improve compliance activities, including liaising with customs authorities on complex issues.
- Promote best practices and contribute to standardized Group processes for consistent support.
Operational Support
- Provide hands-on support for launching new projects when needed.
- Ensure Customs processes comply with corporate and local legal requirements.
- Prepare complete and accurate documentation according to established procedures.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant experience in business development within Customs
- Strong knowledge of current customs legislation
- Excellent command of English (verbal and written); additional knowledge of Dutch or German language is preferred
- Strong commercial skills and a self-starter attitude
- Confident in advising customers in line with legislation
- Result-oriented and dynamic
