About the role
Cloud Platform Engineer
Celestica is seeking a talented and experienced Cloud Platform Engineer to design, build, automate, and operate modern, scalable cloud infrastructure with a strong focus on Kubernetes ecosystems. This is a highly technical, hands-on role ideal for engineers who enjoy building developer-friendly platforms and solving complex distributed systems challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, manage, and optimize production-grade Kubernetes clusters (EKS, GKE, AKS, or vanilla) in multi-cloud or hybrid environments.
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, including modular design, state management, workspaces, and best practices.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, cluster lifecycle operations (upgrades, scaling, backups), and day-2 operations.
- Develop clean, reusable Python automation scripts, tools, CLIs, custom Kubernetes controllers/operators, and operational workflows.
- Build and maintain robust API integrations (REST, GraphQL) with major cloud provider APIs, observability platforms, CI/CD systems, secret managers, and internal services.
- Design and implement secure, GitOps-style CI/CD pipelines for containerized applications (ArgoCD / Flux preferred).
- Work closely with development teams to containerize workloads, author Kubernetes manifests / Helm charts, and define deployment patterns.
- Implement observability, monitoring, logging, and alerting using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK stack, and cloud-native solutions.
- Enforce security best practices, including RBAC, Network Policies, Pod Security Admission, secret management, image scanning, and OPA/Kyverno policies.
- Participate in production on-call rotation and incident response.

Typical Experience
- 8+ years of professional experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering.
- Strong production experience operating Kubernetes at scale (troubleshooting, networking, storage, upgrades, resource tuning, security hardening).
- Expert-level hands-on experience with Terraform for multi-environment IaC (deep knowledge in at least one major cloud: AWS / GCP / Azure).
- Solid Python programming skills for automation, tooling, and cloud SDK usage (boto3 / google-cloud / azure-sdk).
- Proven experience designing and implementing API integrations with cloud services and third-party systems.
- Deep understanding of container technologies (Docker) and orchestration principles.
- Strong Linux systems knowledge, networking fundamentals, DNS, load balancing, firewalls.
- Experience working with at least one major public cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
